《金盖樵话》二编种卷,稿本,现存上编十一卷,下编一卷,近人钱恂(853-927)撰,恂初名学嘉,字念劬,号受兹室主人、积跬步斋主人、步主人、金盖稚樵等,归安人(今浙江湖州)。早年入宁绍台薛福成幕,曾受命整理天一阁藏书,助编《天一阁见存书目》。890年,随薛氏出使英法意比等国。归国后,初任职于湖广总督张之洞幕府。898年,任湖北留日学生监督。905年,任赴东西洋考察宪政大臣参赞。907年,命为出使荷兰大臣次年改意大利。909年归国。93年,任总统府顾问,94年任参政院参政。退职后居北京,著述以终,所著有《壬子文澜阁书目》、《史目表》、《清代进书表录存目》、《重唐韵考》、〈中俄蜀约注〉《中俄界线简明图说》、《帕米尔分界私议》等,其父振常,为咸同间知名学人 幼弟玄同,为近代学者 妻单士亦以诗有声于时,钱氏于清末先后为洋务派大僚薛福成、张之洞属官,又长期从事外交活动,谙熟西方及日、俄等国国情,故政治态度倾向于改忍受,支持光绪新政,与以慈禧为首之保守势力持敌对立场。义和团运动发生时,钱氏适在日本,痛心时事,忧切彷徨。归国后搜集事变期间中外人士之记录,编成此书,书稿迄末刊行,今始面世。
