但另一方面,在传统时期的乡土聚落中,重要的公共建筑和公共空间,一直作为聚落公共活动的重要载体,在聚落整体空间结构和公共生活中处于核心地位,并且直到今天其公共生活模式仍在一定程度上得到保留和传承。当代乡土聚落的研究和保护开始从单纯保护物质遗存转向注重传统生活方式、乡土文化传承的情况下,与乡土聚落中的传统公共生活模式和乡土文化关系密切的公共空间理应得到更多的关注。特别是对于现状情况复杂、无法实现整体保护的乡土聚落来说,如何通过对尚存的建筑和空间要素的整合和有效利用,实现聚落传统生活方式和地域文化在一定程度上的延续,是研究和保护实践中非常值得关注的问题。
