 神经创伤是威胁人类生命的主要疾患之一,是导致人类死残的重要原因,特别是中枢神经脑脊髓创伤是导致人类死残的因素。提高神经创伤诊疗效果是从事神经外科基础研究人员和临床工作者长期为之奋斗和必须面对的重要课题。由于交通道路和汽车迅速发展,道路交通事故成为神经创伤首要原因。根据WHO预测,到2020年创伤和意外死亡将明显上升、成为导致人类死亡第3位疾病。
  经过国内外临床神经外科医护工作者和基础研究人员的不懈努力,脑脊髓创伤发病机制的认识不断深入,临床治疗药物的不断增加,外科手术方法的改进,监测设备和护理水平的提高,前瞻性随机双盲多中心对照临床研究的开展,临床规范化治疗的实施,国内外著名医学中心的脊髓创伤病人救治水平显著提高,死残率显著降低。
