如果你和我一样，那么你的大脑中某个病态的角落或许也会有这样的想法：被一只人肤蝇吃肉是什么感觉。一位同事向我介绍了美国自然历史博物馆哺乳动物馆馆长罗伯特·沃斯，他曾在法属圭亚那遇到了一只人肤蝇，所以我联系了他。罗伯特证实了他的遭遇，并与我分享了这段经历。故事从一次6英里的徒步旅行开始，起点是欧克莱尔的一座雨林，在这里，罗伯特和他的妻子兼同事南希·西蒙斯花了一周时间抓蝙蝠；他们的目的地是法属圭亚那中部的萨于勒。
