  对1949年新中国成立所开启的建筑事件的研究,是饱含复杂因素和张力的领域,因为当代建筑事件与政治、社会的复杂关系的挥之不去,产生了远超于纯建筑学研究的张力。今日,我们反思或重审建筑史并解读经典文本都因有着强烈的历史关照而日益彰显着特有的意义和价值。之所以要特别强调“建筑事件”,旨在要充分地利用多维视野下的历史研究方法去宽泛地进行建筑事件的跨学科研究。从理论层面上讲,事件研究作为一种有鲜明特点的质性研究,对于丰富建筑历史学的想象力有着重要的价值。如“变通”这样一种有着微妙的社会学味道的社会机制,使“事件”这种方法论上的关系主义显示了它独有的魅力,即事件间那些复杂的、有时纯粹是偶然或随机的关系就不是被线性的、单义的因果关系所排除的。具体讲,建筑事件在体制运作上的变通性、建筑视点组织体制转型的过程性、建筑事件中“宏大叙事”主题的模糊性等,都使建筑事件该保有赋予与宏大历史话语不同的“生活”片断。
