曹林娣,江苏无锡人。1964年入北京大学中文系古典文献专业学习;1978年入西北大学中文系攻读文学硕士学位。现为苏州大学文学院教授、苏州大学艺术学院设计艺术学博士生导师,兼苏州园林局顾问等。主要从事中国古代文学和中国园林文化的教学和研究。 主要著作有:《吴地记》校注、《古籍整理概论》、《苏州园林匾额楹联鉴赏》、《姑苏园林与中国文化》、《凝固的诗——苏州园林》、《中日古典园林文化比较》(执笔)、《中国园林文化》、《静读园林》、《中国园林艺术论》(《中国园林艺术概论》)、《园庭信步》,《图说苏州园林丛书》主编、主笔(包括木雕、塑雕、铺地、花窗、门窗5册),合著《启颜录》辑注、《中国散文通典》(副主编之一)、《中国文学史料学》、《金圣叹传奇》及《文献学辞典》、《中华占代文化辞典》等。
